All
our carers go through a rigorous interview process and each one has to
have an up to date Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure.
Before we place a carer we visit the client to assess their needs and
requirements, answering any questions or concerns which may arise.
This gives us a greater understanding to the type of carer required
not just for caring but personality and character.
Normally a team of two carers are introduced to a client allowing them
to work a rota of one or two weeks on/off, however, some carers may
stay longer working up to four / six weeks at a time.

Carers are not able to administer medication to clients. They can only
supervise or assist the client.
-
They can remind clients when to take their medicine
-
Help with removing medicine from containers
-
Check that medicines have been taken.

Accommodation |
The carer will need their own bedroom and if possible the
provision of a television. |
|
Meals |
Meals are normally prepared by the carer for both the client and
carer. If a carer has special requirements concerning their diet
then they are advised to purchase their own food during the
placement. |
|
Shopping |
If
the carer is responsible for the shopping then there should be
housekeeping money available. The carer will keep an account of
what is spent along with receipts. |
|
Insurance |
The agency recommends to all carers that they take out their own
Public Liability Insurance. Clients are advised to check their
household insurance policy to see if it includes public
liability and/or employer’s liability. |
|
Driving |
Most carers prefer not to use their own cars on the client’s
behalf during a placement. It is advised that if a driver is
required a car is provided for them. All details concerning
driving / insurance cover should be discussed with the carer at
the initial first meeting. |
|
Travel Expenses |
It
is standard practice for clients to pay carers’ travel expenses
to and from their home. |
